That New New Year
Happy 2019! I figured it’s not too late to wish you all a Happy New Year as we’re still in January. Three weeks into the new year and somehow I’m barely getting into the groove of 2019. December was a bit of a chaotic month for me. Not only did I have to work throughout most of the month, but I also tried to divide my time in El Paso as much as possible – mainly between family and friends.
Some days I went from working from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to immediately meeting someone after to then catching up with someone else following that encounter. But don’t get me wrong, I loved seeing everyone I got to see.
Coming back to New York it was back to the grind (literally the next day), so there wasn’t much of a break there. After two weeks away, my first weekend back consisted of unpacking, cleaning, organizing – the works. Last week I enjoyed of my second weekend back, and I’m just now starting to feel like I have control over things again. I'm slowly planning out my editorial calendar for the month among other things while averting the cold.
If there’s something I enjoy about winter, it’s that I get to spend more time inside cozying up to a good book (I got Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming , for Christmas!) or writing whilst drinking hot tea or coffee. I see it as my time to recharge. I know, it sounds cliché but what can I say.
