My Go-To Vintage & Thrift Shops in NYC
Happy Earth Day! Today I want to share with you five of my favorite vintage /thrift shops in New York/Brooklyn because I strongly believe in the art of recycling clothing. If you read my recent post on “Five One-Stop E-Tailers” (hope you did!) then you know I am trying (keyword: TRYING) to lay low on the fast-fashion sector.
I say this after I bought a few things at ZARA a couple of weeks ago, but you have to understand I can’t just quit cold turkey if I can even quit at all—which I highly doubt by the way.
However, something I can do is continue my joy for vintage and thrift shopping. Not only do I love finding unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, but I also feel we’re doing some kind of good to our planet when giving new life to recycled clothing. Below are a few of my go-to shops for all my thrift and vintage finds.

Awoke has been one of my favorite vintage shops since moving to New York. They have two locations in Brooklyn but I’ve only been to the one in Williamsburg (the other is in Greenpoint). The shop feels highly curated with a (huge) great selection of denim, dresses, tops, shoes-you name it, for both men and women. They also have shoes and bags, wallets, sunglasses accessories, and jewelry. Although most of their products are vintage, they do carry a few brand new items-especially accessories. I can't leave this place without at least one thing in hand!
L Train Vintage has six locations (something I found out while writing this post)! The one I’ve been to is close to my apartment in Bushwick. Here you can find a great selection of vintage concert tees, jeans, and so much more. This is where I got this amazing blazer, trench, and vintage Etienne Aigner bag. It’s also incredibly affordable! I once purchased a total of four things in great condition for only $34.00. Quality at a good price is always a win in my book!
Beacon’s is another old fave. It never disappoints! They have a total of four locations, three in Brooklyn and one in Manhattan. I’ve only been to the Greenpoint and Union Square locations–both great in my opinion. Be prepared to do some digging as they have EVERYTHING. These amazing $25 cowboy boots were found here, as were these slingbacks, and these Rachel Zoe shorts.
You may already be familiar with Buffalo Exchange as there are several locations all over the country. Similar to Beacon's and Crossroads, At Buffalo, you can sell or trade your gently used items and you can choose between cashing out or getting in-store credit. I found one of my favorite dresses here, which is the one I'm wearing in this post. Here you'll find a great selection of trendy shoes and clothing for men and women. They also sell bags and jewelry among other accessories!
I’ve only been to this shop once, but I thought it was the cutest. It’s a salon/vintage shop so you can literally go and get dressed and then finish off with amazing hair. They sale handmade candles, crystals, home decor, denim, and so many other cute, amazing things. This is where I found this super cool and unique clear bag, which I can’t wait to wear to the beach and everywhere in between. They also like to host fun events where they do tarot readings, or have mini pop-ups from other designers. Everything is super unique and highly-curated. I found out they were recently in Oaxaca looking for items to bring back, and I can’t wait to visit them again!
