Project Paz x Montauk Pop Up
Last Saturday JL and I headed with the Project Paz crew over to The Surf Lodge in Montauk for a one-day only pop-up shopping event. It's a three hour train ride so we woke up bright and early (5:30 a.m. to be exact) and took the 7:45 a.m. train into The Hamptons for a day filled with sun, shopping, and not to mention Mezcal Mules thanks to our sponsor, Peloton Mezcal.
If you’re not familiar with Project Paz, it was founded in 2010 by a group of Mexican friends in New York City to help children affected by the drug-related violence happening in Juarez, Mexico–which is the border city across from my hometown of El Paso. Through fundraising efforts they've now partnered with an NYC non-profit to provide literacy programs for children of Mexican immigrants in the South Bronx.
In the past they've teamed up with artists, designers, and members of the fashion community to host some amazing fundraising events (such as this one) with guests like frontman from Mexican alternative band Zoe, Leon Larregui, and Rebecca Minkoff, and have even collaborated with designers such as Carolina Herrera and Dezso by Sara Beltran to create some dope Project Paz merch. JL and I have been proud members since 2016!
Despite being a little tired (ok a lot) we had an amazing time sipping and catching up with other Project Paz members. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from the event went towards children’s after-school programs on both sides of the border. Truss, Leila Ligougne, Gelareh Mizrahi, and Cooperativa Shop were a few of the brands on display. Some of the brands I'd never heard of, but was immediately swooned by.
